The south side of the island is rugged and steep terrain that is uninhabited, but consists of private land, mostly olive groves. Due to the distance of the village, especially during the olive harvest, residents have built small stone houses, which are now used for commercial purposes. Each house is located directly on the beach, surrounded by olive and fig trees, with its own port and dock. Each of them has their own supply of energy (solar or gas) and water (from the tank - collecting rainwater). This is ideal for folks who want to relax in solitude, separated from the rest of the world, enjoying a moment in the traditional way of life on the island.
Rich flora and fauna of the sea in Tkon is ideal for diving. With clear waters and currents that change direction every 8 hours it’s every diver's dream, while the summer wind called maestral is perfect for sailing and surfing.
Cuisine in Tkon is the Mediterranean one that has not changed a lot through the centuries. Dalmatian prosciutto is something good for a starter, together with homemade cheese. You should try their beef stew or roast lamb and of course, all kinds of fresh sea-food like octopus made under the peka, fish, crabs and shellfish - you name it, they got it. Also, ask for local olives and olive oil, dried figs, homemade brandy and wine, and traditional dessert called fritule and kroštule.
