Stomorska is a place on the island of Šolta in the very south of Croatia. Some time ago, sailing in Stomorska used to be the only source of income because sailboats were used for the transportation of lime, wine and olive oil across the Adriatic. Those same boats are now used for tourist transportation, even though there are only five of them left.
The tourist offer is excellent and there are a lot of accommodation facilities in Stomorska. It is the second most visited place on the entire island of Šolta, right behind Nečujam. In terms of private accommodation, there are a lot of holiday villas in Stomorska. However, if you arrive at the last minute on a ferry from Split, there are plenty of rooms and apartments in Stomorska available for an overnight stay.
Food in Stomorska is incredible as usual because most of the people there are heavily involved in fishing. Still, be sure to visit the local pizzeria called Volat where you can get the best pizza in Stomorska. That very same pizzeria is also renown for its home made beer so put that on your to do list as well. Komin and Turanj, two oldest restaurants in Stomorska, serve a plethora of the best fish dishes on the island. While you're there, check out the Nevera restaurant and try "slane srdele" which is reminiscent of anchovies but much better.
If, by any chance, you are blessed enough to be exploring the Adriatic with a boat or a yacht, Stomorska is an excellent place to take cover from the south wind but still not the best refuge from the north wind "bura". Entertainment in Stomorska is concentrated around diving, swimming, sunbathing and just chilling in the shade of pine trees. You are advised to visit the central beach in Stomorska as that’s where all the young people hang out and you can truly feel the spirit of the island there.
These very same young people usually visit Stomorska each summer after a year of hard work or study and that’s where they just let it all hang out. Despite the amount of youngsters, there are no nightclubs in Stomorska. However, Split is nearby for all of you wild animals that like to party day and night. There a couple of summer camps around Stomorska as well where young people usually learn foreign languages and network with students from all over the world.
