Rogoznica is a little town and port which is 25 situated km south of Šibenik. The city is situated on the small island Gradina. There is a lake on the Island called Dragon’s eye which is filled with sea water. The lake is a natural bioreactor in which some very intensive biochemical processes are going on. Some archeologists think that this area used to be a Greek colony Heracles. Today, it has about 800 inhabitants. The main industries are agriculture, tourism and fishing. Rogoznica is a typical Dalmatian city with narrow streets and stone houses. It is also known as an area with the clearest and the cleanest sea. Its port is one of the safest in Croatia, Marina Frapa, one of the finest marina’s in Europe is situated in the Rogoznica bay.

What to see in Rogoznica:
The main church in Rogoznica was built in 1615. This is the church of St. Nicole with tombstones which was later renamed in the church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Another one is the church of St. John of Trogir. On the top of the city there are remains of a fortress which the French started building in 1809. Every summer the Tourist board organizes numerous events but the best known is The Rogoznica Fishermen Night.
There is a natural phenomenon, the lake Dragon’s eye filled with sea water.
Where to eat:
In the very center of the city you will find numerous pizzerias and restaurants which offer all kinds of dishes but the specialties are sea food meals prepared in the style of the area. Fish stew (brudet) is known in this area as well as the wine Babić.
How to get to Rogoznica:
By Car: From northern direction, exit the A1 highway (Zagreb – Split) by Šibenik, follow the coastal road in direction Primošten, from the motorway exit there is about 35 km to Rogoznica.
By Bus: From Šibenik there is about 15 daily departures to Rogoznica, duration of the trip is between 45 min and 1 hour. From Split there are also around 15 daily departures, driving time app. 1 hour.
By Plane: Nearest airport is the Split Airport, which is 35 km from Rogoznica, (Alternative Airport Zadar, is 105 km from Rogoznica), from Split Airport there is the following options to get to Rogoznica. (All prices below are rough ESTIMATES, prices depend on several factors, like time of year, day of travelling etc.)
Bus, take the local bus (line nr. 37) leaving in front of the airport and go to Trogir, from Trogir bus station you have relative frequent buses to Rogoznica. Cost of trip around 50-60 kuna / person.
