Lovran has a very long tradition as a tourist destination. From all the towns on the east side of Ucka, the coast of Liburnija, Lovran is the oldest town. It has a central part which dates back to the middle age, this part of town used to be surrounded by big walls and bastions. Good climate, Mediterranean vegetation and a great geographical position are the reasons that tourism has developed so fast in the beginning of 20.th century when the Austrian noble discovered this area. Today, Lovran has a rich historical heritage, 100 years old tourist tradition, untouched nature, infrastructure, etc.

Things to see - Sights in Lovran
Lovran is a fairly small city, so main activities are excursion which is organized by several agencies in the city. Some of the most popular excursion from the city: national park Brijuni, the nearby islands, Postojna pin in Slovenia, or Venice in Italy.
If you’re able to be in Lovran in October, try to attend marunada, fiesta of chestnuts.
Also, visit the church of St George in Lovran. Build in 12th and renovated in 15th century. There are many gothic and baroque elements in the church.
Where to eat in the city:
Lovran is tourist city, and of course it’s full with restaurants, pizzerias, etc. Some of the most famous specialities in Lovran are prosciutto and cheese of Grobnik, various types of homemade pasta, rabbit on a platter, lamb, maneštre (it can be eaten as soup, if the vegetables are the main ingredient (which is most often the case), but it may be the main meal if you add "difficult" substances, such as meat products. Of course, like everywhere else, seafood is very common. Some of the nice places to eat in Lovran are: pizzeria Bellavista, restaurant Draga di Lovrana, tavern Excelsior, etc.
