Drašnice is a small village of Makarska Riviera. With only about 300 inhabitants Drašnice is a perfect place for everyone who wants to escape from the concrete jungle and traffic jams. Families with children are the ones who look for accommodation in Drašnice most often. This doesn't mean that they are the only ones, because Drašnice has a favourable position of being so close to the city of Makarska and Split and that gives the opportunity of having wild parties at the nightclubs in the city and then coming back to your apartment in Drašnice and enjoy peace and silence. You might be coming back to your holiday villa in Drašnice in case that was your choice of accommodation.
The place is surrounded with pine forest, which is not a surprise for a village in Dalmatia. Beautiful pebbly beaches in Drašnice are the main reason why so many tourists come back each year. Our guess is that delicious Dalmatian cuisine is the second reason. Restaurants in Drašnice offer all the famous classics of Dalmatian cuisine – octopus made peka style, freshly caught grilled fish, shellfish made buzara style and, of course, lots of olive oil. Once you find your accommodation in Drašnice the best thing you can do is start exploring all the wonders of Dalmatian cuisine. It is famous all around the world, as well as the olive oil produced in Dalmatia. There are no hotels in Drašnice, which makes it a really great place for complete relaxation. You can be lazy on the beach all day long and not cracking your nerves because you couldn't find the free spot for your towel.
Locals are mainly engaged into agriculture, viticulture and olive growing – and of course production of olive oil. After you settle down at one of the apartments in Drašnice ask your host where you can find some fine olive oil. Also ask for their homemade wine, but they will probably offer it anyway.
If you are interested in exploring the history and cultural heritage or architecture may we suggest you take a look at the old graveyard with medieval tombstones and the baroque style church that will look great in your photo album! But enough with the graves, although this one is pretty awesome, let us say something about the summer festivals in Drašnice. These are traditional festivities in Dalmatia where you’ll be able to hear the Croatian music, drink lots of wine and eat lots of fish. Grab your family and your favourite locals and sing along!
