Tučepi is a small tourist destination in southern part of middle Dalmatia, the cities land mark it one of the longest beaches in Croatia, a 3 km long pebble beach. Tourism really started to develop in 1960s when houses were built in the little village Kraj. Since that time, Tučepi’s and its 1760 inhabitants has been mainly living from tourism. The cities tourist offer includes a marina and a beautiful promenade along the 3 km beach.
For sport enthusiast the city offer a tennis centre with five courts, a football field and a place for beach volleyball, the water sports offer include, jet ski, paragliding etc. Tučipe has won several tourist awards for the catering and tourist services in the city, as well as the presentation of the outdoor areas.
Accommodation in Tučepi:
The first hotel in Tucepi, hotel 'Jadran' was built in 1950, in beautiful surrounding of pine trees and pebble-sand beach. In1953 the tourist community was established, which made the number of private houses and apartments in Tucepi increase, most of the private accommodation is found along the 3 km beach, which means that the distance to the is very short no matter which accommodation you choose in the city. One of the cities old stone villa was recently rebuild, no the villa houses Hotel Kastelet.
Things to see in Tučepi:
Necropolis at southern slopes of Mount Sutvid
Church of Sv. George raised the 1311th year and to date there has been preserved as a one-nave Romanesque and Gothic building with a semicircular apse, while in the interior painted crosses have been preserved.
St. John's Church built in 1703.g. as one nave building with all the features of the Dalmatian provincial baroque.
Where to eat in the city:
As in all the other Dalmatian towns, here you can find typical Dalmatian specialities such as: Prsut- Dalmatian smoked ham, salted fish, cheese in olive oil, baked or boiled lamb, pašticada with dumpling all variations of seafood, etc. One of the best restaurants in Tučepi is restaurant Marina.
How to get to Tučepi:
By Car: Take highway A1 from Zagreb direction Dubrovnik, exit in Šestanovac, and follow the coastal road in direction south, (once the tunnel trough Bisevo is finished (planned 2011) the exit in Zagvozd is better option). If you arrive from south, just follow the coastal road.
By Bus: from Split (north) there are 6 or 7 daily departures in direction Tučepi, from Dubrovnik (South) 3 or 4 departures.

By Taxi, The shortest route to from the Airport in Split to Tučepi is to follow the coastal road, other alternative is the motorway, be aware that there can be both price as well as time difference on the two routes, the coastal route should be the cheapest one, but here there is also biggest chance of ending up in a traffic jam. – Estimated price level 900-1.000 Kuna.
Pre-booked transfer, a better option then taxi would be to pre-book a transfer, price for 1-3 persons is around 100 Euro, for 4.8 persons 125-135 Euro.
